Chapter 2 General Information ALPHA V40
Version 18.07.06

Applications Modes
The ALPHA V40 applies labels onto a moving or stopped product. Depending on applicator
version there are different application modes. They can be selected via display controller.
Wipe-On-Mode (Standard)
In the Wipe-On version the labels are peeled off from the carrier, and applied to the product
by precise stepping motor.
Only moving products can be labelled.
Label feed speed and Product speed have to be identical or have to be adjusted to each
other (see the explanation on page 61).
Tamp-Blow-Mode (Option)
With the Tamp-Blow version, the dispending tamp extends over a linear system to the
product by a pneumatic drive. The label is blow onto a moving or stationary product, with no
physical contact.
The Tamp-Blow-Mode is frequently used since mode of operation offers the following
advantages:
Both stopped and moving products can be labelled.
The wear danger is low, because the product is labelled contactlessly.
Tamp-On-Mode (Option)
The Tamp-On applicator is spring-mounted and presses the label onto the surface of a
slowly-moving or stopped product.
Only slowly-moving or stationary products can be labelled.
Preferred used: Difficult surfaces, for example saw timber/wood.
Blow-On-Mode (Option)
In the case of Blow-Box design the label is blown straight onto the stationary or passing
product.
Both stopped and moving products can be labelled.
The wear danger is low, because the product is labelled contactlessly.
With the exception of the Wipe-On mode, it is possible to trigger the dispending procedure only,
at every ALPHA V40.
In this case the label is ejected under tamp pad or grid of blow box and the label applicator
"waits" for the start signal to apply the label. So it is possible to separate the label feed from
applying, using an additional product sensor (Secondary Sensor).
