5. Machine Setup
This chapter covers the setup procedures for the label applicator. These
procedures include label and tamp adjustments and air pressure settings.
This chapter also includes operational tests. Some of these procedures
require the machine to be powered and the air pressure applied.
In principle, there is nothing to set up at the base of ALPHA V40, unless 3 locations. There are
label sensor, unwind brake and Web Brake which can be adjusted. Further the machine
contains a rewind clutch without any adjustment or maintenance required.
Web Brake Adjustment
The Web Brake is used to set the label liner under tension. This improves the performance to
peel labels.

The procedure to adjust the tape brake:
1. Loosen the clamping lever
2. Press the spring plate by means of handle with reduced power against the media and
using the clamping lever to fix this position (while the spring plate is under tension)
Note! Ensure that the Web Brake is under low tension. In general, if the label width
increases the tension has to increase too.
