5. The minimum number of drilling holes, for particularly small label sizes is 8 till 9 holes
(e.g. 2 x 4 or 3 x 3). Up to 70 drilling holes (e.g. 8 x 6) can be required for very large
labels (170 x 120 mm).
6. The sum of all drilling holes square measures should be minimum 25 mm². Therefore
use the following diameters for the drilling holes:
- Up to 40 holes >> Ø 2 mm
- more than 40 holes >> Ø 1,5 mm
☺ Hint: If a mistake is made, the drilled hole can simply covered with hot glue or a piece of
cellophane tape (it should be put on the side of the pad that mates with the manifold).
7. Only a symmetrical pattern of holes obtain a proper positioning in spite of a greater
distance for the labelling.
8. Ensure that any slug is fully detached from the pad before reinstalling the tamp pad.
☺ Hint: Make a photo copy of the drilled pad. So you get an exact pattern for manufacturing a
duplicate.
NOTE !: Any slug that is not fully detached from the pad prior to reinstalling the tamp pad
to the manifold may become lodged in the pneumatic tubing or pneumatic valves, thus
reducing or inhibiting tamp pad performance. Do not knock out any slugs with the tamp
pad still mounted to the manifold.

Installation of Tamp Pad
Fasten the tamp pad with the manifold using the countersunk head screws (14 piece). Make
sure that the gasket is in the proper place between the pad and manifold (refer Fig. 5-14,
Page 53). For labels with a length of more than 60 mm, cut out the partition in the middle of
the gasket. Additional caulking materials are neither recommended nor required. At first
tighten the screws just a little and then completely, alternately in the opposite sides.
