Chapter 5 Machine Setup ALPHA V40
Version 18.07.06
50
Piston Speed Setting
NOTE: Following adjustments should only be performed by a qualified service technician!
The speeds of extension and retraction from the tamp pad are set using two air flow control
valves. These regulators are positioned at the ends of the cylinder unit.
The flow controls are factory pre-set. Use the following instructions to check the tamp function
and to make adjustments if necessary.
The flow control at the top (No. 1, Fig. 5-12) adjusts
the speed of the extension.
The 2
nd
regulator (No. 2, Fig. 5-12) adjusts the
speed for the retraction of the tamp.
Avoid that the tamp is slamming into the end
positions. Strong vibrations or hard bounces
accelerate fatigue of material.
Ensure that the tamp travels in both directions with
moderate speed. Only a high rate of application
requires quite open flow control valves.
Cycle the Tamp to check your setup. So turn the
[Tamp] switch to “ON” and trigger the ALPHA V40.
Follow the warning below.
