General Wear
Description
The photo below shows an area of a printhead that has experienced general wear.
General wear can abrade away the elements and the leads to the elements, causing missed
areas of print. The lighter the color the greater the amount of wear.
Cause
General wear can happen across the entire element line and is normally cased by high
printhead pressures and/or inferior-quality supplies.
Prevention
General wear can not be completely prevented, but the damage to the elements can be delayed
by following a few simple steps:
• Always use good quality supplies.
• If possible, reduce the printhead pressure.
• Clean the printhead every 5,000 panels or when print anomalies persist.
• Keep the printer’s door closed and keep the printer away from areas where there is a
possibility of falling debris; this will help prevent contaminates entering the print
mechanism.
