EFFECTS EDIT
S2000 Operator’s Manual - Version 1.30 Page 171
Here, you may set the frequency, the gain and also the width of the filter. The HZ parameter
sets the centre frequency of this band (this is variable between 40Hz and 6.3kHz) and the DB
parameter sets its gain.
The width parameter allows you to set how ‘wide’ the response curve will be:
WID = 99
WID = 00
With lower WID(th) settings, you can accentuate certain frequencies more tightly whereas with
higher width settings, a wider frequency range is covered by this EQ parameter. If you are
familiar with synthesiser filters, this control is similar to the resonance control. If you are familiar
with parametric EQ devices, this is the same as the ‘Q’ or ‘bell’ control found on outboard EQ
devices or some very expensive mixers’ EQ sections.
Use F1 to move the cursor around these three fields and use the DATA wheel to set the
values for each one.
The next page gives access to the second bandpass filter in the EQ section:
The parameters are exactly the same as for BP1 shown on the previous page and they allow
you to set the frequency, gain and width of the second bandpass filter. The parameters are
selected using F1 and F2 as cursor keys and data is set using the DATA wheel.
The next page allows you to affect the high frequency content of a sound:
Here, you may set the high frequency and its gain. Press F1 to select HZ (the frequency
parameter) and F2 to select DB (the gain) and use the DATA wheel to set the values for each
field.
As mentioned, you may also modulate the two bandpass filters to create swept ‘auto wah’
effects. Normally, you would only modulate one of the bandpass filters but you may
independently modulate both for more extreme effects. The next two pages, therefore, are as
follows:
Both are identical except that the BP1 MOD screen sets the modulation parameters for BP1
and BP2 sets the modulation parameters for BP2. The parameters are RATE (the speed of the
sweep) and DEPTH (which sets the amount of sweep). The parameters are selected using F1
and F2 respectively and values are set using the DATA wheel.
