OPENER SERVICE
GAUGE WHEEL ASSEMBLY
1. Ensure all components are free of foreign materials
such as dirt, straw or fertilizer.
2. Remove bolt (1) from gauge wheel assembly and
wheel assembly from gauge arm (7).
3. Inspect gauge wheel and bearing (3) for wear, tearing
or other damage and replace if required.
4. Disassemble the disk and remove the spindle from the
casting. Care should be taken to ensure the disk does
not fall off the hub after the bolts have been removed.
5. Remove bolt (16) and nut (6) to disconnect the depth
control bracket (15) from the main casting. Inspect
depth control bracket (15) and depth control handle (9)
for damage. Replace if necessary.
6. Remove roll pin (18) and washer from gauge wheel
arm (7) and slide arm out of main casting.
7. Inspect bushings in main casting and gauge wheel arm
shaft (7) for wear. Replace if necessary.
8. Assemble gauge wheel arm (7) to main casting using
washer and roll pin (18).
9. Assemble gauge wheel assembly to gauge wheel arm
(7) and torque lock nut to 203 N-m (150 lbf-ft). Use
Loctite 242 thread lock on the gauge wheel bolt (1).
10. When fully assembled, the front bottom edge of the
gauge wheel should be within 3.2 mm (1/8") of the
disk blade. Shims should be used to adjust the space
between the gauge wheel and the disk.
IMPORTANT: Damage will occur to the gauge wheel arm and gauge wheel assembly if the correct spacing
between the gauge wheel and disk is not maintained. The maximum clearance is 3 mm (1/8")
between the front bottom edge of the gauge wheel and disk. Shims should be used to adjust
the spacing as required.
