ADJUSTMENTS
GENERAL ADJUSTMENTS
1. Check the torque on the disk bolts after the first 90 ha
(200 ac) and periodically throughout the season as
recommended on the maintenance chart.
2. Wear on the disk is normal. The disks should be
replaced if the diameter has reached 53.3 cm (21") or
when disk penetration suffers.
OPENER DOWN PRESSURE ADJUSTMENT
The single disk openers should be adjusted to ensure proper seed placement in the soil operating conditions. Correct
adjustment of all components is necessary for proper seed placement.
NOTE: After any adjustments are made to the single disk openers, a test should be completed to determine if the desired
effects resulted from the changes.
The down pressure used by the disk to create the furrow is
adjusted in two ways.
1. Adding or removing lock collars to the subbar
hydraulic cylinders on the left-hand side of the drill.
Refer to the Down Pressure Adjustment Section
or
2. By changing the spring attachment position on each
opener.
The amount of down pressure required for adequate disk
penetration depends on soil firmness, field residue, soil
moisture conditions and travel speed. If the disks are not
properly penetrating the ground the subbar position or
spring position should be increased.
NOTE: The openers operating in the wheel tracks may
need to be set in a higher down pressure
setting.
- The low spring force pin position is normally used for
conventional tilled fields having loose soil conditions.
- The medium spring force pin position is normally used
for min-till or no-till field conditions.
- The high spring force pin position is normally used for
hard no-till field conditions when full disk penetration
forces are needed to maintain proper seeding depth.
