WARNING
1. Do not immerse the transducer connector. If the cable connector is immersed, do not
plug the connector into the system. Rinse the connector under running water and dry
it thoroughly. If necessary, contact EDAN for service.
2. Prohibit infiltration of any type of liquid into the device or the transducer.
3. Do not immerse the cable and connector of the transducer into solutions. Transducers
can be submerged to, but not including, the strain relief of the transducer array. Do not
immerse or soak any part of a transducer in any cleaning material not listed in the
recommended list of disinfectants.
4. Use the immersion method to disinfect the intra-cavitary transducer(E612UB).
5. Only non-immersion method can be used with solution of ethanol or isopropanol.
6. The immersion time should not exceed the time that is specified by the disinfectant
manufacturer.
7. Patient contact area should be immersed into the solution while using the immersion
method, but should not exceed the depth shown in figure 15-1.
8. Do not sterilize the transducer using techniques such as autoclave, ultraviolet, gamma
radiation, gas, steam, or heat. Severe damage may result.
15.2.1.3. Using Transducers
Proper Use of Probes
In order to extend the service life and to obtain optimum performance of the probe, please operate
as follows:
1. Inspect the cable, socket and acoustical window of the probe periodically.
2. Shut down the machine before connecting or disconnecting the probe.
3. Do not drop the probe onto the floor or collide with hard objects. Otherwise, it will be
damaged easily.
4. When the probe is not used, put it in the probe holder.
5. Do not heat the probe.
6. Do not pull or bend the power cord of the probe.
7. Coupling gel can only be used on the head of the probe, and it should be wiped off after use.
8. Clean and disinfect the probe after every use.
9. The acoustical window and the shell of the probe should be examined frequently.
