ventilation
Mechanical inspiration The Bag/Vent switch closes the manual path. Pilot pressure closes
the exhalation valve.
Drive gas pushes down on the bellows. Gas flows from inside the
corrugated bellows, through the absorber where the CO
2
is removed,
through a unidirectional valve (inspiratory check valve) to the patient.
During inspiration, common gas flows into the inspiratory limb,
upstream of the inspiratory check valve.
