Output Connection
To Use Series Resistor
The series resistor is used to reduce damage of DUT or prevent SMU from oscillation. The
resistor is internally connected between the terminals 1 and 2.
NOTE To install your desired resistor in the universal R-box, see "To Use Universal R-Box".
• Required parts:
N1254A-508 or N1254A-509 connection wire, 2 ea., or 3 ea. for Kelvin connection
• Connection:
See Figure 2-7.
1. Connect a wire between a SMU Force output terminal and the 1 terminal.
2. Connect a wire between the 2 terminal and a Force terminal on the socket module.
This is the non-Kelvin connection, solid lines shown in Figure 2-7. For the Kelvin
connections, add the following connection, dotted line shown in Figure 2-7.
1. Connect a wire between the SMU Sense output terminal and the 1 terminal.
The Kelvin connection is effective up to the series resistor input. So the voltage drop
caused by the series resistor must be subtracted from the measurement result as
following.
Vdut = Vout - Rs  Imeas
where,
Vdut: Voltage after correction
Vout: Source output voltage
Rs: Resistance of the series resistor
Imeas: Measurement current
