Step 1
a Remove the stapler service cover. See “Stapler service cover
removal” on page 341.
b Reseat the stapler left tamper HP sensor cable from the stapler
controller board.
c Restart the printer.
Does the problem remain?
Go to step 2. The problem is
solved.
Step 2
Swap the sensor (stapler left tamper HP) and sensor (stapler right
tamper HP).
Does the same error occur?
Go to step 3. If a 422.xx error
occurs, then replace
the
aected
sensor.

Step 3
a Reseat the cables from the motor (stapler left tamper) and
motor (stapler right tamper).
b Reseat the motor cables from the stapler controller board.
Does the problem remain?
Go to step 4. The problem is
solved.
Step 4
Swap the motor (stapler left tamper) and motor (stapler right
tamper).
Does the same error occur?
Go to step 5. If a 422.xx error
occurs, then replace
the aected motor.

Step 5
Reseat the stapler interface cable from the stapler controller board,
and then restart the printer.
Does the problem remain?
Go to step 6. The problem is
solved.
Step 6
Check the interface cable for damage.
Is the interface cable free of damage?

Replace the interface cable. See

removal” on page 347.
