AIR SYSTEM FILTER MAINTENANCE
General
Two styles of air filters are used on cranes: Type A and Type
B. This section describes maintenance of both filters.
Daily Maintenance
1. Open the manual drain valve at the end of each shift to
drain water and dirt from the filter.
2. If equipped, check the automatic drain valve periodically
during the day for proper operation.
Monthly Maintenance
Replace the filter element as follows:
NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the filter head from its
mounting to replace the element.
1. Stop engine and de-pressurize filter. If a shut-off valve is
provided, close the shut-off valve and open the manual
drain valve on the filter to vent the filter.
2. If a shut-off valve is not provided, open the drain valve
on the air tank(s) and on the filter to vent the air system.
3. See Figure 2-31
and disassemble the filter.
