Checks in
the emergency
program
Before operation, you must check the length indicator displays and the
functioning of the emergency program.
Checking length indicator display
Check the displays (1) and (2).
Only telescope the main boom if at least one
of the two displays shows a value.
If neither of the displays shows a value, you
must not start the telescoping process. You
have no way of determining the locking point
of a telescopic section. In this case, consult
Manitowoc Crane Care.
1 Display for the position of the telescoping cylinder in the foot section
There are four different displays.
A Shortly before the locking point – the locking point is reached by
extending
B Shortly after the locking point – the locking point is reached by
retracting
C At the locking point
D Telescopic cylinder not in a foot section – no symbol
G
Risk of damage to the telescoping mechanism
Never telescope the main boom without any length indicator display.
It would then not be possible for you to monitor operations, and compo-
nents in the main boom could be damaged, or a situation could arise in
which the main boom can no longer be extended or retracted.
