SELECTOR
Adjusting
1.
Set the
selector
to
the
‘N’
position
on
the
selector
quadrant.
2.
Turn the
gearbox shaft
to
the ‘N’
position,
i.e.
turn
the
shaft back
(anti-clockwise)
as
far
as
it
will
go
to
the
‘P’
position,
then
turn
it
forward
two
clicks
or
detents.
3. Slacken the locknuts
on
the
rod adjuster
and
turn
the
adjuster
in
the
required direction
until the
lever fits
easily
onto
the
driving ats
of the
gearbox
shaft.
4.
Tighten the
adjuster
locknuts.
5.
Fit
and
tighten
the
selector
lever
retaining
nut
and
washer.
Removing
6. Set the
selector
to
the ‘N’
position
on
the
quadrant.
7.
Remove the
nut
and
washer
securing
the
selector lever
to
the
gearbox shaft
and detach the
lever from
the
shaft.
8. Unscrew the
carpet
retainer
ring securing
screws
and
remove
the
ring.
9.
Ease back
the
carpet
surrounding
the
selector
assembly and
remove
the selector housing
retaining
screws.
10.
Lift
out
selector
assembly complete
with
rod and
lever.
Dismantling
11.
Remove the
self-locking
nut
securing
the
rod
to
the
selector
and detach the
rod.
12.
Remove
the
trunnion
circlip
and
withdraw
the
trunnion
and
anti-rattle washer from the
rod.

13. Unscrew
the
nuts
and
screws
securing
the
selector
cover
and
remove
the
cover.
14. Remove the
self-locking
nut
securing
the fulcrum
pin.
15.
Withdraw
the fulcrum
pin, collecting
the
spring
washer,
‘D’
washer,
nylon
washer
and
anti-rattle
washer.
16. Removethe
selector
cover
gasket.
17. Withdraw
the
selector
lever
and
unscrew
the knob.
18. Press
down
the
retainer
ring
in
the
upper
end of
the
sliding
pillar
and
remove
the
circlip.
19.
Withdraw
the
retaining
ring,
spring,
and
sliding
pillar.
20. The
bronze
fulcrum
bush
can
be drifted
from
the
selector housing
for
renewal if
necessary.
Inspection
21.
Examine
the fulcrum
pin
and bush for
wear,
and
renew
if
necessary.
22. Inspect
the
rod, levers
and
pivots
for
twisting, damage
and
wear;
renew
worn
or
damaged
parts.
Reassembling
23. Reverse
the dismantling
procedure
in 11
to
20,
lubricating
the
trunnion
liberally
with
Rocol MT265
Grease
before
assembling.
Refitting
24.
Reverse
the
removing procedure
in
6
to
10
noting
that
if
new
parts
have
been tted
or
the lever
does
not
t
easily
to
the
gearbox shaft,
the
rod
may
require
adjusting
as
described
in 1
to
5.

MAINTENANCE
Checking
uid
level
The
markings
on
the dipstick
are
calibrated
for
the
uid
level
with the
transmission
at
normal
running
temperature.
If for
any reason
the
level
is
checked
when
the
transmission
