Section R.29
HEATER
Removing
BLOWER
MOTOR ONLY
1.
Disconnect
the batteries.
2. Disconnect the
motor
wiring
at
the
snap
connectors.
3. Remove the three
screws
securing
the
motor
mounting
plate
and withdraw the
motor
complete
with plate.
HEATER
ASSEMBLY
5.
Carry
out
operations
1 and 2.
6. Drain the
cooling
system.
7.
Disconnect
the hoses from the
heater
unit.
8 Remove the
screws
securing
the heater
unit
to
the
engine
compartment
bulkhead.
9. Remove the
speaker panel
or
control
console.
10. Unscrew the demister
tube
retaining
clip
screws.
11. Withdraw
one
of
the demister
tube elbows
and
remove
the
tube plate.
12. Withdraw the bre
demister
tubes.
13. Remove the
overdrive
vacuum
switch
(early
cars).
14. Detach the heater
air
control from the
fascia
panel
and
disconnect
the
control
cable.
15. Slacken the clip
securing
the
air control cable
to
the
heater
unit
and
slide the
outer
cable free of
the clip.
16. Lift
the
heater
assembly
from
the
car.
Dismantling
17. Remove the
securing
clips
and withdraw
the front
panel complete with
the blower
motor
and heater
matrix.
18.
Withdraw
the
matrix
from the
plate.
19. Unscrew the blower
motor
securing
screws
and
remove
the
motor.
20. Disconnect and
remove
the
air
control
cable.
Reassembling
21.
Reverse the
dismantling procedure
in
17
to
20.
Refitting
HEATER ASSEMBLY
22. Reverse
the
removing
procedure
in
5
to
16
ensuring
that the
air
control cable
is
correctly routed through
the body panel, and the control
functions
correctly
before
refitting
the demister tubes and
speaker
panel.

the
removing

Checking
1.
Wind the window
down and close the door.
2. Move the
locking latch
rearwards
to
the
locked
position. '
3. Unlock the
door by
turning
the key through
90
degrees
towards the
rear
of the
car.

Open
the
door
by depressing
the
outside
push-button.
5. Close
the door,
then
open
it
again
using
the inside
handle.
Adjustments

STRIKER
8. Check
that
with the
door
closed
a
clearance
of
312m
1%
in.
(1
to
1.6 mm.)
exists between
the
striker and
latch
faces.
Adjust
the
clearance
by
adding
or
removing
shims
behind
the
striker.
9. Slacken
the
striker
securing
screws
sufciently
to
permit
the
striker
to
move
but
tight
enough
to
allow
the
door
to
be
closed
to
the
fully-latched
position.
10. Press
the
door
inwards
or
pull
it outwards
until
it
lines
up
correctly with the
body.
Never slam
the door
while
making
adjustments.
11.
Open
the
door
and draw
a
pencil line
round
the
striker
to
establish
its
horizontal
position.
12. Set
the
striker
at
right
angles
to
the
hinge
axis
and
tighten
the
striker
securing
screws.
13. Open
and
close the
door
to
check
for
drop
or
lift;
slacken
the
securing
screws
to
adjust
the
striker
in
the
vertical
plane
until the
door
can
be closed
easily
without
rattling, lifting,
or
dropping.
When
correctly
adjusted,
with
the
door
closed
in
the fully
latched
position,
a
fractional
movement
should
be
possible
when
the
door
is pressed
in
against
its seals.

INTERIOR
DOOR
HANDLES
AND
TRIM PAD
(GHN4/5
AND
GHD4/5
CARS)
Removing
1.
Close
the
window,
remove
the
screw
and
spring
washer
retaining
the
window
regulator
handle
and
remove
the handle
and
its
fibre
washer.
2.
Withdraw
the
two-piece
plastic
bezel
from the
remote
control
unit
(the
top
half
upwards,
bottom half
downwards).
3. Unscrew the pull
handle/arm—rest
securing
screws
and
remove
the
pull
handle/arm-rest.
4. Unscrew the
waist
rail
securing
screws
and
remove
the
waist
rail.
5. Unscrew the
screws
securing
the
trim pad
and
remove
the
pad.
6. Peel
the plastic
waterproof
cover
from the
door
as
required.
Refitting
7. Reverse the
removing
procedure
in
1
to
6
ensuring
that the
lock
and
window
mechanism
is
adequately
greased
and
that
the
door
cut-outs
and
waterproof
cover
are
securely
taped.
