Chapter 7: Maintenance
7.1 Field-replaceable Parts
WARNING: PERSONALINJURYORPROPERTYDAMAGERISK
Only qualified service personnel may install or service the robot system. All
maintenance work must be performed by skilled and instructed personnel -
refer to the Robot Safety Guide. The access covers on the robot are not inter-
locked - turn off and disconnect power if covers have to be removed.
WARNING: PERSONALINJURYRISK
During maintenance, user-supplied fail-safe lock-out measures must be used to
prevent unauthorized third parties from turning on power.
This is mandated by Clause 5.2.4 of ISO 10218-1.
The only field-replaceable parts on the Viper 650/850 robots are the encoder battery and the
eMB-40/60R.
The part number for the battery is 05234-000.
7.2 Periodic Maintenance Schedule
The following table gives a summary of the preventive maintenance procedures and
guidelines on frequency.

NOTE: The frequency of these procedures will depend on the particular system,
its operating environment, and amount of usage. Use the times given here as
guidelines and modify the schedule as needed.
