2 PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE CHECKS
To guarantee user and patient safety and to ensure consistent image quality, the X-ray
unit must be checked and recalibrated by a qualified Planmeca service technician once a
year or after every 10 000 exposures if this is sooner.
The following preventive maintenance checks have to be performed on a regular basis:
System maintenance as described in section 1.2 "Operating checks" on page 85.
Taking beam check images as described in section 1.10 "Step 7: Taking beam check
exposure" on page 111.
Taking a ball phantom image as described in section 1.11 "Step 8: Taking a ball
phantom exposure" on page 111.
For Dimaxis users only: Taking a QA image as described in Planmeca Publication
Number 10016248 (Image Quality Monitoring Instructions for Planmeca Digital X-ray
Units).
Taking a constancy test image as described in Planmeca Publication Number
10008319 (Constancy Test/Planmeca Digital X-ray Unit).
Visually check for the amount of lubricant in the linear actuator and threaded rods of
the linear actuator, collimator and the temple support mechanism
If necessary, lubricate the parts with Shell Gadus S3 A1300C 2 grease, or a grease
with the same specifications as Shell Gadus S3.
Upgrade ProOne software if necessary; for more information, see section 4.5
"Technical: Update software (T3500)" on page 68
2.1 Moving column slide fixtures
Check the condition of the moving column slide fixtures once a year. The fixture thickness
must be at least 3 mm. Refer to section 3.7 "Replacing the slide fixtures" on page 142.
