Fuel Tank
Removal and Installation
See Figures 9-9 through 9-11.

CAUTION
1. Park mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-5.)
2. Raise hood to fully open position.
3. Disconnect and isolate the negative cable from the
battery.

CAUTION
4. Place a suitable container underneath the fuel tank
drain valve (4) and open the valve. Loosen the fuel
cap to provide a vent for draining fuel.
5. When fuel tank is completely empty, close tank drain
valve and tighten fuel cap.
6. The seat pan and seat must be removed to remove
fuel tank. (See “Seat and Mount Plate” on
page 9-10.)
7. Close fuel outlet hose shutoff valve (2). (Turn
clockwise until valve bottoms lightly).
8. Tag and disconnect fuel outlet (3) and fuel return (1)
lines. Plug lines and cap fittings to prevent leakage
and contamination.

9. Remove six control panel mounting screws (5) and
set control panel (6) aside.
Diesel fuel is highly flammable. Do not drain fuel
indoors. Heaters can ignite fuel vapors. Use
extreme caution when draining fuel.
Contact with diesel fuel can damage your skin.
Use gloves when working with diesel fuel. If you
come in contact with diesel fuel, wash skin
immediately.
