Fuel Filter
Removal and Installation
See Figure 3-24.

CAUTION
1. Safely park mower. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-5.)
2. Stop the engine and remove the ignition key.
3. Allow the engine to cool completely before servicing.
4. Disconnect the battery negative (–) cable at the
battery.
5. Close the fuel petcock located on the bottom of the
fuel tank.

6. Thoroughly clean the fuel filter (2) and area
surrounding the fuel filter.
7. Turn the filter counterclockwise to remove it.
8. Remove the filter element. Drain excess fuel into an
appropriate container.

CAUTION
9. Clean the inside and outside of the filter head (1).
10. Lightly lubricate the filter seal with clean oil and
install. Tighten the filter hand tight plus one-half turn.
11. Open the petcock on the bottom of the fuel tank.
12. Purge air from the fuel system after installing the new
filter by utilizing the electric fuel pump. See the
Engine Manual for further instructions.
Fuel Pump
Removal and Installation
See Figure 3-25.

CAUTION
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-5.)
2. Stop the engine and remove the ignition key.
3. Disconnect the battery negative (–) cable at the
battery.
4. Close the fuel petcock located on the bottom of the
fuel tank.

5. Cut cable ties (2).
6. Disconnect wiring connector (1) from harness.
7. Place a suitable container under the fuel pump (9).
8. Loosen hose clamp (7) and disconnect hose (8) from
fuel pump.
9. Loosen hose clamp (3) and disconnect hose (10)
from fuel pump.
Diesel fuel is highly flammable, handle with care.
Use an approved container with a spout that will
fit inside the fuel filler neck. Avoid using
unapproved containers to transport fuel. Keep all
fuel containers clean and closed when not in use.
Dispose of fuel properly. Contact the local
environmental department for instructions on
disposing of unwanted fuel products.
