Checks and Adjustments
Throttle Cable
Adjustment
See Figures 3-3 through 3-5.
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-5.)
2. Stop the engine and remove the ignition key.

3. Remove six screws (1) and lift instrument panel (2)
up to access the throttle lever (3).
4. Position the throttle lever in the high-speed position.
IMPORTANT
Throttle cable wire must not extend too far beyond
pivot clamp or damage to the fuel tank can result.

5. Place the engine throttle lever (4) against the max
speed screw (5).

6. Loosen the wire stop (6) at the engine throttle lever
(7). Position the engine throttle lever at full throttle
position and tighten the wire stop.
IMPORTANT
Be sure pivots (4 and 6) rotate freely in idle and full
throttle positions, or premature cable failure will
result.
7. Verify the engine rpm (2850) at engine crank shaft
using a photo tach.
8. Install the instrument panel.
