Purpose
Amethyst III offers the utmost in performance, flexibility, high-density,
and delay capability to increase the robustness and maximize uptime of
your broadcast and transmission chains—and ensure that your MPEG-2
transport stream (ATSC or DVB) can be properly secured.

Available with Gigabit Ethernet interfaces or ASI interfaces, Amethyst III
is perfectly suitable for any type of architecture: new IP-centric networks
as well as widely deployed ASI based head-ends.
To maximize service availability, Amethyst III is equipped with dual
power supply/pl
ugs and maintains service delivery thanks to a smart and
configurable bypass mechanism on Gigabit Ethernet and ASI interfaces,
even in case of power failure.
Robust, Highly Configurable Testing
Amethyst III supports a variety of tests depending on your requirements.
You can individually select and configure these tests through an
easy-to-use graphical user interface. For example, it is easy to select and
set error severity criteria as well as a persistence time to avoid unwanted
switching when transitory events occur. Amethyst III supports TR 101 290
tes
ts (Priority 1/2/3), which enable a complete health-status check of your
digital DVB network. It also supports testing and monitoring models that
provide the same level of comprehensive information for ATSC
environments. To improve redundancy, template checking of expected
packet IDs, rate limits, and/or scrambling status of various critical
program components is available. For DVB-T systems, it also performs
relevant measurements on MIP packets.
