4-14 Acquiring Data
Types of data acquisition
In the Full Scan Function Editor, the Data parameter specifies the types of
data to be collected and stored on disk:
Centroid data: MassLynx stores data as centroid intensity data and it
stores mass-assigned peaks in a “stick” spectrum. MassLynx stores
centroid data for each scan.
End The retention time (in minutes) at which
the scan stops.
Use Probe
Ramping Method
When selected, you can enter the name of a
Probe Ramp Method file (*.prf) in the adja-
cent text box; alternatively, click Browse to
search for a file.
Restriction: Use the probe ramping method
only when samples are introduced by Direct
Insertion (DI) or Desorption Chemical
Ionization (DCI) probe.

Ion Mode Specifies the ionization mode and polarity to
be used during data acquisition.
Data Specifies the type of data to be collected and
stored on disk.

Scan Time Specifies the duration of each scan, in
seconds.
Inter-Scan
Delay
Specifies the time between a scan finishing
and the next one starting in seconds. No
data are stored during this period.
