14. In the Tune window, click and confirm that the instrument status
indicator shows red.
15. Condition the MCP detector.

16. Leave the instrument in Operate for at least one hour to warm up and
stabilize before calibration or acquiring data.
Shutting-down the instrument
Emergency instrument shutdown
To shut-down the instrument in an emergency:
Turn off the power at the wall-mounted isolation switch(es), if fitted.
Otherwise turn off the power at the main power on/off switch, and unplug the
power lead from the rear of the instrument. Turn off all peripherals.
Temporary shutdown (switch to standby)
Switch the instrument to standby when it is to be left unattended for a long
time, for example overnight or weekends.
To switch the instrument to standby:
1. Click .
Result: The trap and the emission is turned-off automatically and the
isolation valve is closed when switched to Standby.
Tip: It is not necessary to switch the instrument out of operate.
However, switching to standby is acceptable provided that the one-hour
instrument warm-up time is considered when restarting an analysis.
2. If you have been running CI, or when running EI for prolonged periods,
close the CI gas bottle valve when switching to standby.
Caution: Data can be lost.
