Setting up DRE mode 4-15
• Continuum: MassLynx regularly stores the signal received by the
interface electronics to provide an analog intensity picture of the
acquired data. MassLynx does not display data as centroid peaks, but
stores data for each scan as peaks.
Tip: Continuum data files include significantly more data points than
centroid data files, so continuum data files are larger.
Setting up DRE mode
Dynamic Range Enhancement (DRE) mode increases the dynamic range of
the GCT Premier, permitting the analysis of strong samples that produce
intense signals.
In DRE mode, the instrument acquires alternate high and low intensity scan
data and then uses the low intensity data to provide the mass and intensity of
peaks that saturate in high-intensity data streams.

Before using DRE mode, you must set up the instrument.

When you are acquiring data in the DRE mode scan at least 5 spectra per
second.
To set up DRE mode manually:
1. In the MassLynx Tune window DRE tab, click High Sensitivity.
Rationale: The instrument will operate in high sensitivity mode for the
z-focus and the z-lens steering.
Caution: To ensure accurate data acquisition, you must perform the
setup procedure below each time you change any source or analyzer
parameter.
