Monitoring the instrument vacuum
The instrument’s vacuum status appears in the Vacuum Monitor window,
in mbar. Readbacks from the instrument’s pirani gauge on the backing pump
and the penning gauges in the analyzer and the source are given.
If any Pirani gauge output pressure reading exceeds the trip level, the
relevant fine pump is turned off. There is some hysteresis in the operation of
this trip, thus the pressure at which the trip resets when the vacuum is
improving is lower than that at which it trips out.
See also: The Engineer tab on page B-39.
To monitor the instrument’s vacuum levels:
In the MassLynx Tune window, click to open the Vacuum Monitor
window.
Alternative: Click Vacuum > Monitor.
Note: The following illustration shows typical values (in mbar) for an
instrument when fully pumped-down with a GC fitted and helium flowing at
1mL/min.
