6-6 The GC Interface
11. Ensuring that the heater connection on the interface flange is at the
bottom of the assembly. Then fit the GC interface to the instrument, and
secure it using the two retaining screws.
12. The GC column can now be installed, or the transfer line blanked, to
allow source housing pumping.

Reinstallation of the GC interface
If you previously installed the GC interface and determined the transfer line
position, you need not renew the 1/4-inch ferrule when reinstalling the
interface.

To reinstall the GC interface:
1. Loosen the 1/4-inch nut retaining the inner transfer line in the GC
interface assembly and pull the transfer line back a short way.
Tip: The 1/4-inch ferrule is usually be tight on the transfer line and its
position does not change.
2. Fit the GC interface to the instrument.
3. Push in the transfer line to the position dictated by the 1/4-inch ferrule,
and then tighten in position.
Working with the interface fitting tool
To use the interface fitting tool:
1. Remove the two thumb screws and separate the interface fitting tool and
GC interface.
Requirement: Ensure that the Viton O-ring is not in place.
