Removing the EI/CI inner source
To remove the inner source:
1. In the MassLynx Tune window, click and confirm that the
instrument operate status indicator shows red.
See also: Figure titled “The MassLynx Tune window:” on page B-3.
2. In the MassLynx Tune window, click Vacuum > Vent Source.
3. Click the Engineer tab.
The Source Turbo value begins to drop steadily. When it drops below 70,
you hear the turbo vent valve open. Once the valve opens, the Source
Turbo value begins to drop more quickly. Once the source vents, the
vacuum status light-emitting diode (LED) shows yellow.
See also: Status display on page 1-9.
4. Allow the GC column to cool to below 100 °C.
5. Retract the GC column.
See also: Installing the GC column on page 6-9.
6. In the Tune window Source tab, monitor the Source Temperature
readback; allow it to fall below 70
°.
7. Unscrew the two thumbscrews that retain the inner source assembly to
the outer source.
Warning: The GC column and interface are hot. To avoid burn
injuries, take care when retracting the GC column.
Caution: To avoid damaging the GC column and inner source
chamber assembly, the GC column must be allowed to cool to
below 100 °C before retracting. When the GC column has been
retracted, remove the inner source assembly.
Warning: The source components can be contaminated with
toxic and biohazardous materials. Wear chemical-resistant,
powder-free gloves at all times while handling the
components.
