Tuning the instrument for positive CI 3-25
Tuning the instrument for positive CI
Use the following methods to introduce samples in CI mode: DI probe, the DCI
probe, the gas chromatograph, or the reference inlet system.
In CI mode, you can introduce reference samples in one of the following ways:
•DI probe
•DCI probe
•GC
• Reference inlet
The instrument uses one of the following reagent gases:
• Methane
• Ammonia
•Isobutane
Warning: Methane is extremely flammable. When the
instrument operates in chemical ionization mode (CI), which
involves using of methane, you must safely vent the effluent
from the rotary pump. Verify that all fittings are leak-tight
and avoid naked flames.
Warning: Ammonia is a hazardous flammable gas. When
the instrument operates in chemical ionization mode (CI),
which involves using ammonia, you must safely vent the
effluent from the rotary pump. Verify that all fittings are
leak-tight.
Warning: Isobutane is extremely flammable. When the
instrument operates in chemical ionization mode (CI), which
involves using isobutane, you must safely vent the effluent
from the rotary pump. Verify all fittings are leak-tight and
avoid naked flames.
