1-8 Instrument Description
A pneumatically-operated isolation valve allows routine source maintenance
to be performed without breaking the analyzer vacuum. This valve is
controlled via the MassLynx software.
The source and analyzer vacuums are monitored by Penning gauges, which
stop instrument operation if vacuum loss is detected.

instrument vacuum on page B-9.
MassLynx control system
PC based MassLynx software controls the GCT Premier, GC system, and the
autosampler. A second PC–the "embedded" PC (EPC)–occupies a place next to
the GCT Premier. The EPC acquires and processes data and directly controls
the instrument’s electronics.
The MassLynx PC and EPC communicates via a network link.
Analog inputs allow data acquisition to occur simultaneously with acquired
mass spectrum data from optional conventional GC detectors, such as the
flame ionization detector and electrochemical detector.
The following processes are performed through the MassLynx software:
Configuring the GCT Premier.
Tuning and calibrating the GCT Premier.
Creating inlet and MS methods that define operating parameters for a
run.
Running samples.
Monitoring the run.
Acquiring data.
Processing data.

information on installing and using the MassLynx software.
