4-4 Acquiring Data
Format Specifies the data type (Centroid or Continuum) to be
collected and stored on disk. Centroid format is
recommended for collecting data, except when
checking data resolution.
See also: Types of data acquisition on page 4-14.
Duration The length of the acquisition, in minutes.
Scan Time The length of each scan, in seconds.
Inter Scan The time between one scan’s end and the next scan’s
start, in seconds. MassLynx does not store data
during this time interval.
Note: The minimum delay is 10 ms (0.01 s).
Use Probe Ramping
Method
When selected, you can type a probe ramping method
(.prf) filename and path in the text box, or click
Browse to locate the file.
See also:
Ramping the probe temperature automatically on
page 7-11.
Ramping the probe current automatically on
page 8-8.
Use DRE When selected data are acquired in the dynamic
range enhancement (DRE) mode. The dynamic range
increases to more than four orders of magnitude. Use
DRE if using stronger samples that are likely to satu-
rate the detector.
Requirements:
You must configure the DRE magnification factors before acquiring data
in DRE mode; these factors must also be reconfigured if you change any of
the tuning parameters.
See also: Setting up DRE mode on page 4-15.
When you are acquiring data in DRE mode, scanning at least 5 spectra
per second gives better peak shapes and more accurately represents peak
intensities.
Start Mass The mass at which the function starts.
End Mass The mass at which the function stops.
