6-8 The GC Interface
GC interface with fitting tool attached for checking the tip position:
3. Look through the slot in the side of the interface fitting tool and assess
the alignment of the tip; the tip should be central to the indentation in
the interface fitting tool.
4. If required, change the position of the heater tube.

5. Fit a new 1/4-inch ferrule and the 1/4-inch retaining nut over the
transfer line.
6. Ensure the tip is touching the indentation in the interface fitting tool
without compressing the spring.
Caution: Fitting the tip too tightly damages the outer source as
the interface expands thermally.
