Changing the EI/CI inner source assembly 2-5
2. Ensure that you are about to install the correct inner source.
See also: Inner source assembly on page 1-4.
3. On the inner source assembly, verify that the O-rings:
Sit correctly in the groove.
Are in good condition.
Are clean and free from dust.
4. Carefully fit the inner source assembly on the guide rods and present it
centrally to the outer source so that the inner source assembly flange is
flush with the outer source cover.
5. Tighten the two thumbscrews that retain the inner source assembly to
the outer source.

6. Open the reference reservoir valve.
7. If required, fit the GC column to the instrument.

8. In the MassLynx Tune window, click Vacuum > Pump Source.
When the pneumatic valve opens, you should hear a small hiss.
9. Ensure that the vacuum LED shows flashing green followed by steady
green.

10. When the Source Turbo value in the Turbo Readbacks frame reaches 80
or more, close the reference reservoir valve.
Caution: To avoid damaging the inner source assembly, be
careful not to knock the filament or ion chamber assembly.
