Chapter 6 Display-Controller ALPHA V40
Version 18.07.06
96
a keypad diagnostic function is activated if any key is pressed at switch-on
roll-over capability in edit-mode now allows to jump directly from min to max value (and
viceversa) of any parameter without having to scroll the entire range
the key-combination Left+Right is recognized while in error condition to go directly in
Service Mode
the key-combination Left+Enter is recognized in Service Mode to advance the current
location address by 32.
General operating reliability has been improved by implementing a "retry" mechanism on the
communication protocol between the CPU and the motor driver: this eliminates the "NOT
RESPONDING" errors that frequently happened on some machines.
Label sensor calibration procedure has been revised: keys have now a better debouncing to
avoid the operating difficulties previously encountered on few machines, messages are all
displayed on the second line and, if the calculation is successful, the GAP LEVEL parameter is
displayed at the end.
This update avoids frustrating situations if wrong parameters are programmed (typically, if the
HOME sensor is enabled by mistake but no applicator is connected)
Gives the possibility to enter SERVICE mode even when the controller is in error condition.
A modification to eliminate randomly stop with displaying “NOT RESPONDING” , which
appears without any indications.
Version 40.3 Released: 30 April 2004
Now it’s possible to dispense a "burst" of two or more labels with a single activation of the
trigger signal. The number of labels is controlled by parameter 252, accessible in service mode,
while the delay between labels is determined by the existing parameters TRIGGER DELAY +
TRIGGER BLANKING + SYNC PULSE (minimum 8 ms if all are set to 00).
Other changes, additions, improvements or fixes are the following:
Auto-skip for missing label now works also when there is only 1 label in queue (it happens
when label sensor is placed very close to the peeling edge or if label is very long).
Label presence is checked also in case of test labels dispensed manually through the
ENTER key.
Display initialization sequence has been modified for compatibility with LCDs from different
manufacturers.
Diagnostic visualization is now immediate (if enabled) after label dispensing.
Air-assist/aspiration valve is switched off after dispensing while waiting for secondary trigger
in direct-blow cycle and when the cycle is manually aborted by pressing a key.
To avoid paper jams when realigning labels, application cycle is not performed when
manually dispensing through the ENTER key.
Home sensor is checked while waiting for label dispensing only if it is enabled by parameter
248.
Timing of the TRIGGER DELAY parameter has been made dynamic: for speeds up to 9.99
m/min it is 10 ms per unit (as before), while for 10.0 m/min and above it changes to 1 ms per
unit, thus improving label placement resolution.
Removed the "dead-lock" caused by a NO PAPER error when working in applicator mode
with automatic pre-dispensing.
Factory default setup values have been updated (new position of label sensor).
