Create Hosts
In the ISE, Host Bus Adapter (HBA) port World Wide IDs (WWIDs) are organized into entities called hosts. A
host is a collection of one or more HBAs identified by a unique name. Hosts may contain HBA ports from
different computer systems. Hosts provide a convenient mapping of storage volumes to the HBAs with unique
names for collections of HBAs.
This section briefly describes the steps to create hosts. No volumes appear in the
Available Volumes
list at this
time because no volumes are created. For more detail on hosts and their creation, see “Configuring Hosts” on
page 60. The following steps describe how to create a host:
1. Select
Hosts
>>
create host
from the navigation bar on the Web-Mgt, and the
Host Configuration
view
appears.
2. Enter a unique name and select the operating system type.
3. From the
Available HBA Ports
list, select the HBA ports to make up the collection associated with this host.
4. Click
Add
to add the selected HBA ports to the host.
