Troubleshooting Procedures
Example • Blurry printed image
Printing shows a blurry printed image.
Possible Cause:
• The ribbon cartridge may not be correctly positioned.
Solution:
• Check that the ribbon is properly rolled onto the ribbon cores of the cartridge, with
no wrinkles.
• Replace the ribbon cartridge, making sure it locks in place, and print again. Refer to
Installing the Ribbon Cartridge on page 66.
Possible Cause:
• The ribbon may not be synchronized on the correct color panel position.
Solution:
• Open the lid, then close the lid to synchronize the ribbon.
Possible Cause:
• The cards may not meet specifications. Refer to Specifications on page 6.
Solution:
• Use a different supply of cards.
Possible Cause:
• There may be dust or embedded contamination inside the printer.
Solution:
• Clean the rollers and the printhead. Refer to Cleaning the System on page 191 and
Cleaning the Printhead on page 350 respectively.
