Released: April 2004 6850 Series Gas Chromatograph Service Procedures 326
Root Cause(s)
Use the following flowchart to determine the
root cause(s) for a dead GC.
1. Remove the back panel of the GC.
2. Set the multimeter to DC volts and connect
the voltmeter black lead to ground and the
red lead to the +5 V or +24 V test point on
the main board (standard or networked).
Follow the flowchart for removing the elec-
tronics cover to access these test points.
NOTES
The +5 VDC and the
±15 VDC are regu-
lated power supplies that incorporate
fold-back current limiting in the design.
This means that these power supplies
will shut down and protect themselves in
the event of a short to ground— normally
a fuse will not blow.
The +24 Volt power supply is unregu-
lated, and therefore relies on main board
fuses F1 and F2 for short circuit protec-
tion.
Be careful when removing the wires
from the oven interlock switch as they
break easily. Also, be sure to prevent
them from touching ground while trou-
bleshooting the GC.
