TEST ACTION APPLICABILITY
3 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the MTV Solenoid harness connector.
Remove the MTV Relay from the PDC.
Measure the resistance of the MTV Relay Output circuit between the PDC and the
MTV Solenoid harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
All
Yes → Go To 4
No → Repair the MTV Relay Output circuit for an open.
4 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the MTV Relay from the PDC.
Using a 12-volt test light connected toground, probe theFused B+ circuitin the PDC.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
All
Yes → Go To 5
No → Repair the Fused B+ circuit.
5 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the MTV Relay from the PDC.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe theASD Relay Output circuit in
the PDC.
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIIIt, actuate the MTV Relay.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
All
Yes → Go To 6
No → Repair the ASD Relay Output circuit.
6 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the MTV Relay from the PDC.
Turn the ignition on.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to battery voltage, probe the MTV Relay Control
circuit in the PDC.
With the DRBIIIt, actuate the MTV Relay.
Does the 12-volt test light flash on and off?
All
No → Go To 7
Yes → Replace the MTV Relay.
7 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the PCM harness connector.
Disconnect the MTV Relay from the PDC.
Measure the resistance of the MTV Relay Control circuit to ground.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
All
Yes → Repair the MTV Relay Control circuit for a short to ground.
No → Go To 8
