Symptom:
*LOW OIL PRESSURE INDICATOR INOPERATIVE
POSSIBLE CAUSES
ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH
ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT OPEN
INDICATOR LED
POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
TEST ACTION APPLICABILITY
1 Turn the ignition off.
Perform the Instrument Cluster Self Test.
Depress and hold the Trip Odometer reset button while turning the ignition on.
Did the Low Oil Pressure Indicator illuminate?
All
Yes → Go To 2
No → Go To 4
2 Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIIIt in Sensors, read the Oil Pressure Switch state.
Disconnect the Engine Oil Pressure Switch harness connector.
With the DRBIIIt in Sensors, read the Oil Pressure Switch state.
Did the Engine Oil Pressure Switch change states?
All
Yes → Replace the Engine Oil Pressure Switch in accordance with the
Service Information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No → Go To 3
3 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Engine Oil Pressure Switch harness connector.
Disconnect the PCM (C1 connector on 2.0L equipped vehicles) harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the Engine Oil Pressure Switch Sense circuit.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
All
Yes → Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the
Service Information.
No → Repair the Engine Oil Pressure Switch Sense circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
