Operation
Operating Instructions 867 - 04.0 - 03/2018 45
Pre-tensioner
The pre-tensioner (3) holds the thread in position if the main
tensioner (1) and additional tensioner (2) are completely open.
For machines with automatic thread cutter
The pre-tensioner (3) also determines the length of the initial thread
for the new seam:
Shorter initial thread
1. Turn the adjusting screw of the pre-tensioner (3) clockwise.
Longer initial thread
1. Turn the adjusting screw of the pre-tensioner (3) counterclock-
wise.
Additional tensioner
The additional tensioner (2) increases the tension during sewing,
e.g. for thickened seams.
Proper setting
The additional tensioner (2) must always be set lower than the
main tensioner (1).
The additional tensioner (2) can be switched on and off manually
or automatically.
Automatic switching of the additional tensioner
On CLASSIC machines with a push button panel on the machine
arm, the additional tensioner is switched on and off via the corre-
sponding function button on the push button panel ( p. 65).
