8.13 Removing and installing the counterweight
10. Put the lifting cable over the roll in the
counterweight lifting bar.
a. Put the pin in the outer hole of the shaft.
b. Pull the shaft and the roll OUT.
c. Put the cable over the roll.
d. Push the shaft, the roll and the cable back IN.
e. Put the pin back in the inner hole of the shaft
and lock it.
11. Fully raise the boom.
12. Turn the crane so that the boom is at 90° to the
tracks.
13. Turn the jib so that it is horizontal.
14. Attach the two leg chain sling to the lifting cable.

Use a D-shackle.
15. Attach the two leg chain sling to the
counterweight.

Attach the hooks of the two leg chain sling to
the lifting eyes in the counterweight.
16. Remove the two bolts of the counterweight
retainer plate.
17. Remove the counterweight retainer plate.
18. Extend the boom a small distance so that the
counterweight hangs free.
