6.27.5 Example for Configuring the DNS Test
Networking Requirements
As shown in Figure 6-7, Switch functions as the DNS client to access the host whose IP address
is 10.2.1.1/24 through a domain named server.com.

Configuration Roadmap
The configuration roadmap is as follows:
1. Configure the Switch as the NQA client.
2. Create and perform the DNS test on the Switch to check whether a connection between the
Switch and the DNS server can be set up and to check the speed of responding to an address
resolution request.
Data Preparation
To complete the configuration, you need the following data:
l IP address of the DNS server
l Name of the host to be accessed
Procedure
Step 1 Configure reachable routes between Switch A and the DNS server, between Switch A and the
host to be accessed, and between the DNS server and the host to be accessed. The configuration
details are not mentioned here.
Step 2 Create an NQA DNS test.
