Image Processing Path
The image data from the SBU goes to the IPU (Image Processing Unit) on the BICU board, which carries
out the following processes on the image data:
• Auto shading
• White/black line correction
• ADS
• Scanner gamma correction
• Magnification (main scan)
• Filtering (MTF and smoothing)
• D gamma correction
• Binary picture processing
• Error diffusion
• Dithering
• Video path control
• Test pattern generation
The image data then goes to the GW controller.
• The IPU and VCU are contained in the same IC (called SCRATCH) on the BICU.
Original Modes
The machine has 10 original modes. There are two text modes, three photo modes, and five “special”
modes.
