The surface of the rods should appear highly polished with no scratches
or sharp points.
8. Ultrasonically clean the rods in a suitable solvent to remove any
remaining grease or sample particles.

To reassemble the rod assembly:
Refit the rods in the outer source assembly in the reverse to the above
procedure, consulting the diagrams prepared during disassembly.
