FI/FD outer source maintenance 10-43
To remove the extraction rod assembly:
1. Close the isolation valve to isolate the source housing.
2. Remove the outer source from the instrument.
See also: Removing the FI/FD outer source on page 9-6.
3. Make a diagram of where the wires and gas tubing are located.
Rationale: This diagram aids assembling the outer source.
4. Disconnect the two extraction rod contacts.
5. Loosen the retaining screw on the extraction rod assembly.
6. Tilt the rod assembly forward and remove it from the source assembly.
The extraction rods can be cleaned with disassembling.
Extraction rods:
7. Clean the rods with fine grade emery paper or fine stainless steel wool.
Warning: Cleaning the various parts of the source requires
solvents and other chemicals that can be flammable and
hazardous to health.
