Clearance between Differential Case and Differential Side Gear
1. Measure the differential side gear boss O.D..
2. Measure the differential case bore I.D. and calculate the
clearance.
3. If the clearance exceeds the allowable limit, replace it.

Clearance between Differential Pinion Shaft and Pinion Gear
1. Measure the differential pinion shaft O.D..
2. Measure the differential pinion gear I.D. and calculate the
clearance.
3. If the clearance exceeds the allowable limit, replace.

Backlash between Differential Pinion and Differential Side
Gear
1. Hold the plastigauge (wire of solder) (2) on the pinion gear (1)
with grease.
2. Turn the pinion gear (1) to mesh the plastigauge (wire of solder).
3. Measure the thickness of plastigauge (wire of solder).
4. If the backlash exceeds the allowable limit, adjust with shim (3).
5. Adjust the backlash properly by repeated above procedure.
