4.3.1.5 Connecting Profibus-PA nodes

The Profibus module FI 830F is designed exclusively for the connection of Profibus-

DP nodes. If you intend to integrate a Profibus-PA line - i.e. several PA nodes - into

the network, it is recommended to use a linking device LD 800P. The linking device

converts the DP bus physics to PA bus physics. LD 800P is not transparent on the

line, i.e. it is handled as a DP node and has an own DP address. The PA bus is

powered externally via a so-called power conditioner.

Various variants are planned for the Profibus linking device.

The Profibus linking device LD 800P is still under development and will be

available from mid 2002. These specifications are therefore preliminary

and are intended to be used for planning exclusively. Subject to technical

changes without notice!

Features of the Profibus linking device LD 800P

• Conversion from DP to two PA

lines

• Baud rates: DP max. 12 Mbauds,

PA 31.25 kbauds

• Redundancy operation possible,

bumpless toggle between Primary

and Secondary, alignment via

redundancy link

• Redundant power supply 24 V DC

with monitoring function and

generation of a power-fail signal

• Electrical isolation between DP

and PA and between the two PA

lines

• Supply of the bus via power

conditioner with external power

supply

• EEPROM for operating

parameters

• Status and error indicators
