7 Functional Description of the Fieldbus Modules
7-9
7.2.1 Concept
The AC 800F is designed for accommodating four fieldbus modules. Like all other
AC 800F fieldbus modules, FI 830F can be plugged in or removed while the AC 800F
is working. The high system performance is achieved due to the fact that the AC 800F
module bus is closely linked with the CPU, despite the plugging and removal of
boards.
Due to the electrical isolation conforming to the standards, the AC 800F can be
provided with up to four individual Profibus master lines, where each line can work
with a different speed. The data is gathered and processed directly in the AC 800F.
The FI 830F module already provides the possibility of a master redundancy for the
Profibus DP.
Description of the status indicators
State LED
The fieldbus module FI 830F has a multicolor LED which indicates
the current module state. This LED is labeled State LED and is
located at the top. The State LED indicates the following:
• Off No voltage applied, module is separated.
• Green Module is active and working properly.
• Orange Module has been identified by AC 800F, but has not
yet been activated.
• Red Module under power, but not yet identified, or an error
has occurred.
Busy LED
The single-color (green) Busy LED indicates the communication
state
• Off Module is passive towards the Profibus.
• Green Module has a token and, thus, is acting as the master.
If the module is working as a redundant master, the
Busy LED may be dimmed green, startflashing
green every now and then, or go off.
