7.4 CAN module FI 810F (Industrial
IT
Protocol)
7.4.1 Concept
The CAN module is designed for connecting intelligent field
instruments that are equipped with a CAN interface. This applies
especially to the I/O units of the Freelance 2000 systems. Of
course, any other device capable of working with the Industrial
IT
Protocol can be connected as well.
The CAN interface works with a differential 2-wire bus structure
(ISO/DIS 11898).
The module provides three CAN interfaces and, thus, ensures
compatibility with the Freelance 2000 process station.
The three CAN interfaces are electrically isolated from each other
and from the CPU board.
Exclusively plug CAN module FI 810F into slot F1 ! Do not plug in
any other slot.
Description of status indicators
State LED
The multicolor State LED of CAN module FI 810F indicates the current module
state. The State LED is the top one. It indicates the following states:
• Off No voltage applied, module is separated.
• Green Module is active and operating properly.
• Orange Module has been identified by the AC 800F, but has not yet been activated.
• Red Module is powered, but has not yet been identified, or an error occurred.
