8.2 B-0404-A general description
The B-0404-A business ONT terminates the PON interface and converts it to user
interfaces that directly connect to subscriber devices. The ONT is compatible with
existing subscriber equipment, including analog phones with both tone and rotary
dial capabilities, cordless phones, modems, fax machines, and caller ID boxes (Type
I, Type II, and Type III).
Voice, video, and data are supported by this ONT. Voice capability through the
Ethernet interface is supported with an interfacing external IAD box or home router
to enable VoIP access. Video content can be delivered in the form of data by
multicast or unicast technology. For example, where multicast technology is used,
these ONTs supported a dedicated multicast GEM port on the downstream, so the
video content is received and processed by the ONT through an unified channel,
which improves bandwidth efficiency. IGMP snooping functionality is also
supported for further optimization. When IGMP snooping is enabled, the member
joining and leaving activities are monitored by the ONT at the Ethernet services port,
so the multicast stream can be selectively delivered.
The B-0404-A provides:
• interoperabilty with an appropriate LT card/board on a supported OLT device
• four configurable 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet interfaces using RJ-45 ports
• four E1/T1 interfaces using RJ-48C ports
• 1.244 Gb/s line rate upstream and 2.488 GB/s line rate downstream with a Class
B+ Optics featuring 28 dB link loss and nominal 20 km reach
• support for two optical wavelengths at the GPON port:
• 1310 nm upstream
• 1490 nm downstream
• network demarcation for all services in an open business model
• interworking functions between the GEM and Ethernet layers
• IGMP support
